Philpot, I know you speak of the 2007 season here, but I did not notice any "new acts".

I am curious about this upcoming 2008 season. I was on their website earlier today and did not notice anything new yet.

This is just speculation, but if we are going to see some new performers this year, it will probably be on some of the smaller stages.

Iris & Rose and Christoph the Insultor will most likely be back at the Sea Devil.

The Washing Well Wenches have not updated their web site, but they will most likely be returning to the Castle Stage. Silvia, as far as I know, will be back with Shunyata Bellydance on the same stage. They have had visiting acts perform there in the past also.

Sound and Fury are scheduled to return to The Odeon this fall. Not sure about Arsene, but since his performances were mostly standing room only, it makes sense that he will be back. Great show if any of you haven't seen him.

Ded Bob will no doubt return, and will probably be at The Globe (if Arsene is not here this year, Ded Bob will most likely return to the Odeon). Does anyone know the Other Brothers home page? I found their MySpace page and did not see a schedule. Seems likely they would return also.

Gypsy Dance Theatre is a long time staple at The Agora, so expect them back. I would also think that Sholo will be returning since he has performed in one capacity or another for at least 20 - 25 years at TRF.

OK ... I just got confirmation that Arsene will be returning to TRF this season. Considering the crowds he draws, he will probably be performing at The Odeon again.

Oh good. It's always nice to see his show. I'm happy to hear he's coming.

Good news indeed. Thanks.

As many of you know, E-Muzeki disbanded several months ago. One of the groups formed from the former members is Wine & Alchemy. W&A is made of of mostly E-Muzeki members (Jenny is not among them). Wine & Alchemy have announced that they will be performing at TRF this season (probably on the Dove Meadow Stage). Catch them if you can ... they should put on a great show replete with wonderful music and dancing.

Yes, I had heard the news some time back about Muzeki going their separate ways. Too bad, but this is news to me. I will have to look out for W&A this season.

I have noticed on certain auction sites that some people in the Houston area have posted messages with regards to purchasing any E-Muzeki CD's.

I thought of new “act” that could be done at the Faire.

Kind of like a “ Renaissance 101" for newbie’s

But do it in a Iris and Rose context . . .

I think something like this could work. One issue might be that bawdy acts need to have a little bit of a buffer from the crowds. It is always good for Iris & Rose, as well as Chrisoph and other PG-13 entertainers to warn the crowds that the show that is about to begin is adult oriented (Sound and Fury gives adequate warning also). At the Sea Devil, the hidden speakers are aimed back towards the crowd, so passersby on the cobblestone path do not hear all of the show. This could possibly be done at the Arborhause (German Beer Garden) or The Falconer's Inn (if the speakers were oriented properly). The Leek & Daffodil is too open to lane traffic and the POW pub is too small to accomodate something like this.

I like the way you think philpot ..... you gonna do it?

Might not be a good idea for me to do this one, might be my last faire. See I am one of those types that believe there are two types of people that should come to the faire.

The type that want to have a good day of eating drinking and watching shows with or without children, and those of us that spend several hundred dollars on garb to come and be a part of the festival, (and eating drinking and watching the shows).

The folks that come thinking it is a “dress up” day that are in the gorilla suits, the bad Goth costumes, etc, to me make a mockery of what the faire is all about.

If I did the show I would do it near the old water wheel area, and those folks that I just spoke of would need a trip over and the beheading station.

But alas, paid guests are paid guests . . .

I understand your sentiments, Philpot. I've seen some really goofy costumes at TRF, and some of them, IMHO, do not belong at faire. If someone has a clever story (like the stormtrooper someone mentioned that states he was displaced through a tear in the space-time continuum), they are at least trying to make with a plausible, although highly improbable, reason to party with the rennies.

The gorilla I saw last season I will never understand.

Of course, on All Hallows weekend anything goes, but for most of the other weekends it is nice to see people in historical and fantasy ren/medieval garb. Once again, IMHO.

Aye, but he can never wear it properly if he's wearing armor under the kilt, if you see what I mean.

Now I know I like the way you think! There is never a shortage of strange...

I was going to continue that statement, but I believe that says it! I guess I am set in my ways. I really want to make true ren garb for all the poor misguided souls.

A kilt on a stormtrooper would look weird enough, but going "regimental" as well would be totally bizarre.:D

Well ... as for the original post - perhaps we'll have more to talk about soon when the entertainment schedule is released. I'm hoping for a big surprise, but even if that doesn't happen, we will undoubtedly have a few new acts and certainly some new TRF performers to discuss.

Yeah, I guess I can see where my comment might get misconstrued and send the topic into a dark direction, but there was not one single dirty thought in my head when I posted it.

Did it take any willpower on your part not to reply?:D

Not really. We have to keep it tame or be banned. It's really really easy for some of us to slip and just be ourselves, but we have to be careful of the small children and mundanes. They seem to scar so easily.
