Hi Nancy the Short! Good to hear from you again. I'll certainly be stopping in to look at your beautiful wares. Rose -N- Thistle is one of the most elegant shoppes anywhere. Here's a pic of you from last season, inspecting some of the fine crystal you had in stock. Any pirate worth his salt would drool at the swords and flasks you carry.

That must have been early on. I don't think there were that many swords on the wall the last week.

One day, when I am wealthy, I am going to spend an obscene amount of money in this shop.

Rapier, You do not have to be wealthy to spend money at Rose & Thistle; just discriminating in your tastes. We can accomodate all budgets and tastes, from the frugal to the extreme. Please do come by and see me, even if just to say hello! And, Sir Martin, you will be pleasantly surprised by the changes in the shop! I look forward to seeing everyone!

Also if you just spend all your money at Rose & Thistle, Pavilion, and Indulgences (budgeting accordingly) then you are all set :). No matter how rich you are or not :).

Why thank you, but part of it was running in to take them off the wall, or dig one out of the back or upstairs. The credit goes to Nancy for the sales though. They can both move product and love doing it.

Don't feel bad, Sir Martin, the last time I saw the song performed before Job Faire was watching The Birdcage! I keep getting mental images of Gene Hackman!!! ACK!

Maybe we can do a repeat customer pin. But then there maybe addicts, and we would have to think of a 12 step program and pins for milestones.

Just an FYI, Cheffy Boy, repeat customers are a good thing! I thrive on them! The only treatment I am aware of is to continue to shop with us until we are all out of merchandise!! Huzah!

I would be very intested to know which shop that was, you know the old one bad apple thing, some times there are those who need to be reminded that in New Market we live in much gentler time when courtesy is common place and not only appreciated but expected. My theory is that if even one person makes your visit unpleasent you then stand the chance of not returning and that is not acceptable.

Miss Dicksie - Thank you so much for the kind words. I spend a great deal of time beating, er, I mean EDUCATING my crew on customer service! Nice to see it pays off and the bruises don't show! Sometimes we get lost between Pavilion and Indulgences, and we are few, but we are strong! Our goal, as is the goal of all of the MIL shoppes, is to make each customer feel as though they are the reason we get up in the morning. You, of course, know this and also serve the credo well! Yes, indeed, the gingerbread is on the horizon for you!!

I am so glad, I would hate for one sour vendor to spoil trf for any one, there are those of us who are there behind the seens making it happen and we would not want to be any place else when it comes to trf, it is a familey kind of thing. I'm so glad that Nikki will be back and I look forward to seeing you again Lady L

I was looking through the MIL photos from previous years and noticed this one from 2002. Who is the lady on the left wearing a black dress in this picture? I'm pretty sure she is still at Rose -N- Thistle and she helped me pull a prank on Nancy The Short.
http://www.dragonsquest.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=245&size=big&cat=&sortby=f&sorttime=9999&way=asc
I snuck up to one of the doors and Nancy didn't see me but the other lady did, so I gave her a signal not to let Nancy know I was there. Then I said rather loudly "Oh sure ... it's OK honey, jest climb on up there on that big old lion with your brother and I'll get a picher of both of y'all". Nancy motioned to the other lady to go out and intercept me but she just stood there in a quandary. Finally Nancy came out for the attack and saw it was me who was pulling her leg. :)
In case you haven't heard, Nancy will be on you in no time if you try to climb up on "Leo" or "Bubba" outside of Rose -N- Thistle. ;)

The young lady in question is Rebbeca Gerber, she was one of "our" kids I think she was 15 or 16 the first year she worked for MIL she was one of My daughters recruits I think it was in 2000 or 2001, I was driving from the northside of Houston and staying in the MIL dorm that year and bringing any where from 4 to 12 young people with me. My daughter tells me that Rebbeca is still out at TRF she has her own shop near pirates cove.:D

Thanks for the info Dicksie. I guess Rebecca is not the lady I was thinking of. Maybe Nancy will check back on the forum in between working at Four Winds and tell me who her co-worker was this past season. She had someone working with her at Rose -N- Thistle who (from my recollection anyway), kind of resembled Rebecca.

03-02-2009, 01:27 AM
You are right, Martin. I had not noticed the resemblance before, but the other charming lady in R & T this past year was Vanessa Marietta. Vanessa is a really sweet kid that has worked with us for 4 (I think) years now. And Dicksie is right, I think Rebecca is still on site with her own shop.
A very watchful eye you have, kind sir!

Hey Nessa. You are very sweet and beautiful indeed! I'm pretty sure I got a picture of you, but as I told the other members here, I had a memory card failure and lost about 100 - 120 photos one weekend. :(

I'm afraid that this year I won't be able to work at TRF :( . I'm going to Texas A&M and one of my counselors was telling me that I have to take 15-18 hrs this semester. But I am going to try to visit at least once.

Nessa - are you trying to link it from a photo hosting site like Snapfish or Photobucket, or are you trying to upload it to Dragon's Quest? It might be easier if you already have a photo host account and can provide a link. We would love to see the pic of the Rose -N- Thistle crew!

Hey Nessa - it looks like the people viewing your album would have to have a Snapfish password in order to view the pictures on your account. Could you log in to your Snapfish account, then copy and paste the links to each of the photos here? That way we would have a direct link to each of the pictures. I can then edit them to display here without the link once they are posted, if you prefer.
The photo we can see on the cover of your album looks cute. :)

Lord of Lamont - I know I am not Nancy Short, but I did go over and look in Rose N' Thistle during training to see if we had the Clan Badge you are looking for and unfortunately, we do not have it in stock. And also, there is no website for the as well, we like to keep our things unique in the way that we only have our items available these wonderful 17 days out of the year. We do hope that you are still able to come out and visit and see the new wares of the shop and have a glorious day at the festival.
