I Found Something That Could Be Used As A Bodice Chiller I Was In Cvs And They Have These Small Metal Pill Containers Which Could Be Used As A Chiller They Are As Long As My Thumb They Also Have A Key Ring So If The Men Are Hot They Could Use A Leather Stap To Tie Around Their Necks Under Their Shirts
Just A Thought
They Are Also Only 4.99

Not a bad idea. Wouldn't hurt to get one and see how much crushed ice it holds. That would give you an idea on how well it would work.

It wouldn't surprise me at all. What would surprise me would be to find one that wanted the help.

Well, I've never worn a corset and a court dress (never will either), but I can imagine with all of those layers, it would be extremely uncomfortable to wear on those hot days at TRF. I don't blame you for doing whatever it takes to keep cool.:)

I think I've said it in another post, but I've used baby wipes at TRF to cool down a little. It wasn't very long-lasting, but it definitely helped.

I don't know anything about baby wipes, but do they possibly have something in them that might irritate your eyes if they made contact?

Last year they were selling beautiful glass & pewter bodice chillers in the german area. Not sure of the booth name, but it was the tent with all the scarves and east-indian stuff.

Just to clarify ... I meant if a wipe accidentally got in your eye (and not after being used on an actual baby). :D

That's it, Nuny. CelticCherub - there was a thread at the R/F forum a while back where one of the members described a really unfortunate accident with a glass bodice chiller. I would really recommend going with a metal one for safety's sake.

Hopefully Nuny will be able to locate the other source and post a link. I saw this information at renaissancefestival.com but I'm pretty sure it is no longer available. That forum was crashed by hackers in May, and although it has been rebuilt ... all of the information from the previous forum could not be copied over.
I'm sure you know what happened though ... a playtron with a glass bodice chiller had it break and it cut her pretty badly. I'm sure the glass ones with the pewter lids are beautiful, but I don't think they are worth the risk.

might be something for the home display case, instead useable wear, which brings to mind alot of the stuff in Nancy the Short's shop, awesome stuff, but would probably display versus use most of it!

Here we go. I found it on Flickr. The title of the photo is "Chiller Carnage"
(The actual injury isn't as bad as it sounds) There's even a short version of the story in the caption.

Thanks, Nuny! From what I remember, the posts on the R/F forum did not include pictures. Here's another thing to consider regarding glass: it does not show up well (if at all) in X-Rays, so if someone is injured the medical staff might not be able to locate all of it!

It's beautiful, CC! I'm glad yours has a metal base to it ... probably a lot safer than the full length glass tube models.

I agree with everyone else. It is a beautiful work of art and appears much safer than glass.
