I will be at the POW after the prade for a toast and meet new friends I will be at TRF on pyrate weekend and thanksgiving weekend. Hope to see some of you. I will be the 6'5" Pyrate wearing a blood red vest.

I'll be at POW also between 12:30 and 1:00 pm on the days that I attend. There will be a gathering of people from the R/F.com forum and we hope to meet as many of the cast members who can make it also. Look for the R/F pins and introduce yourselves.

You can still come by and say hello. The bartender won't let minors inside, but there is a small covered area outiside the front door where R/Fers gather. People are generally well-behaved. :) And the path is very wide there, so many of the people at the meet and greet will be outside anyway. My girlfriend can't be around cigarette smoke so we likely won't be inside for long.

LOL We walked inside POW last year (right after gate opening so noone else was there), with my 1 year old in the stroller and you would have thought that I brought Hanabel Lecter with me. "NO! HE CAN"T BE HERE. YOU HAVE TO LEAVE!" LOL Like the baby was going to hurt someone.

Oh yegads, I now exactly what you mean. :eek: I can't remember the bartender's name but he also works at the White Horse Pub at Scarborough. He's a pretty nice guy, so I suspect that he might have gotten into trouble before for having a minor in the pub (or he's just fervently trying to prevent it). Here's a pic of him at Scarborough. His trademark is the roses he has weaved into his moustache and beard. He's a bit silly when a picture is about to be taken but he never actually touches the women. :D

Frankly I found it a bit surprising that even though we are in the state of Texas, where a parent can take their kid just about anywhere they want legally, it apparently doesn't apply in POW at TRF.

Now that you mention it, I wonder if the pubs would have any liability by having a minor present? It's been awhile since I've heard this discussed, but I know that minors used to be allowed in liquor stores as long as they were accompanied by by a parent or guardian. Minors are obviously allowed into restaurants in the State of Texas that serve alcohol. Where I live, minors are even allowed into dance clubs that serve liquor (but they have to wear a wrist band that identifies them as a minor so they cannot purchase liquor while on the premises). Perhaps this is just a rule imposed by the establishment?

What confuses me is that there are minors at the Sea Serpent, yet they aren't allowed at POW? Granted, I can understand if George wants a place where adults can get completely away from any and all kids. That would make sense to me.

The bartender in question is Dan Stewart and the lady is his wife, Linda McDonald. They are both awesome people. Linda is back in performance company in the English Court this year but I won't spoil it by telling you who she plays! It will be more fun if it's a surprise! Look her up if you want a thrill. Just ask for Hellena...we'll know who you mean! LOL

And I don't think George pays for the AC. The shoppes are all privately owned and they pay their own expenses and pay him a portion as well.

Only one disadvantage is it takes 5hrs to get there, where as Scarby is only 1.5hrs

It's the opposite for me. A little over 2 hours to TRF and 4.5 to Scarby. Both well worth it (although I get a hotel now because I don't like to drive home after a long day at faire). ;)

I have not been able to stay long at the 1230 gatherings for R/F but this year is going to be diffrent. I will not be the Greenman this year. Im taking a Hiatus and spending some time with My wife, friends inside faire and outside. Greenman will return next year.:)

Unless something happens, M'lady and I will be at TRF on October29 and 30. I will try to attend opening day (girlfriend's not going to this one). I'll buy a commemorative stein, Take lots of pictures and attend a show or two. Might also look for some garb (need a tunic). We might also be coming on Thanksgiving Weekend. Not sure yet, but we will have some family visiting from Florida and they want to see our grand faire.

We have done the Louisiana Ren Fest near Hammond, La the faire grounds are nice, they need a little more infrastructure ( bathrooms are nice outhouses now ) but it has some potential.

When I asked about it last year I was told that it is right after the parade and to follow the people in chain maile who were in the parade to the location. Hope this helps and Hopefully I will get to meet you there at the pub at least for a few minutes as my kiddos will be in tow.

I plan to be at TRF on Friday, November 23 and will try to come by POW at noon. My girlfriend and several members of her family will be there and most will be in mundanes. I'll either be wearing my black/green doublet or will be in a peasanty/low class pirate sort of garb. :) My nephew from Florida will be attending for the first time in garb so you might see me with a little pirate.
