Dicksie Going To Hospital

MY FRIENDS OUR BELOVED DICKSIE IS GOING INTO HOSPITAL TODAY
TO HAVE A PROCDURE DONE AT THE MEDICAL CENTER HOUSTON HAVING SURGERY FOR CANCER

THIS IS WHAT SHE WROTE TO ME AND I COPIED IT ,AS SHE EXPLAINS IT BETTER THAN I CAN WRITE ABOUT

DICKSIE YOU ARE IN OUR THOUGHTS PRAYERS


My Doctor is in the Medical Center (Houston), the plan is to do all of this as an out paient thing. I go into his surgical center tomorrow at 7 am, He will take out a piece of my face send it to his lab to make sure he went wide enough and deep enough, if not he goes in and takes more until he is sure he has all the affected cells then he does a temp close and I go across to the plastic surgeon for eval and pre-op then on wednesday I go to St Lukes for reconstuction, if all goes as planed I go back to the plastic surgeon on thursday and he says bla..bla..bla and I go home with lots of highspeed pain killer hopefuly. I can handle almost anyting but pain, although I have a high pain threshold once that line is crossed I become a baby. So if all goes well I should be home by thursday afternoon. Rather then spend 4-6 hrs on the road each day we are at the Holiday Inn Austrodome so not much road time.

So far so good, the Dr says he got it all and it only took a couple of goes, if none of this makes sense it is because I'm a littlel loopy. But now that the cat is out of the bag (as it were), I wanted to update everyone. Thank you all for your well wishes and prayers, I can truley feel them.:o

Thanks for the good news on your procedure, Dicksie! I hope all goes well at St. Luke's hospital. I know two people who have been admitted for treatment there and they both have commented that it is one of the world's finest medical facilities. Although best known for their pioneering work in cardiovascular care, they are a top tier hospital for a great many other procedures.

Up date II - everything went well today the Dr says he is very pleased. I'm sure I will be too but right now the left side of my face is about 4 times the size it should be, and it is black and blue or rather red and blue the black will come later.

Update III - We're in town for another night the Dr. wants to check my face again tomorrow because there is more swelling then anticepated. Right now I can't see out of my left eye.

Not being able to see out of one eye can't be too much fun. Hopefully the swelling is nothing serious and you'll get to go home tomorrow.

I think from your phone you would have to email them to your personal email address and then upload them to Photobucket or another online hosting site. You certainly don't need to do that if you feel the pictures would be inappropriate. The most important thing is that we are all hoping you feel better soon, Dicksie!

Not so much inappropriate, just yucky. I look like I was hit up side the head with a 2X4. I went to the store with my sister and a lady said "oh your poor face" and with out skipping a beat my sister said "yea and if she re-aranges my the living room again I'll get the otherside too." So far no police at the gate so hopefuly the lady knew she was joking, although I must say she looked pretty stuned. Any way as long as I keep the pain killers in me it dosen't hurt to bad. Thanks to every one who kept me in their thoughts and prayers. I know that it helped.:D

Yea, it was pretty funny and here we are a day later and still no police at the gate, I'm thinking this is a good thing. My husbend says he can tell I have a left eye now so things are getting better.

Well my husband has desided that I need to go out to my sisters for a few days, he says I'm not going to get any rest here, he is most likley right. So off we go to no www land. I live in the sticks but she is realy out there, I think the nearest corner store is 20 miles and the nearest anything else is about 40. So I will talk to all when I get back.:D

I'm back and rested although her guest room bed has more in common with a toture rack then a bed. I saw the Dr. today he says I'm healing well but I can't do any massages for at leats 2 more week.:( So I guess I am taking a Christmass break with the kids.:) I didn't want to tell him that I did a couple a massages while I was at my sisters. Shhhh don't tell any one.:D

I understand a bed that feels like a torture rack, as I had one immediately after Hurricane Ike hit. Was able to get into something a bit more comfortable after 2 - 4 weeks. Can't wait until home repairs are made. All that aside, I hope you feel fine soon Dicksie ... we're still praying for your recovery.

Thank you to each and every one of you. I am feeling alot better, still some pain but this too shall pass. I know that your prayers have helped. I am thankful for friends like yall. I think the hardest thing is keeping the energy up to get through Christmas with an 11 year old and a grand baby in the house it is important that Christmas be what Christmas should be when your a kid. I love you all and again tank you.

Oh my! I'm glad to hear you're doing ok Dicksie! :) I got a lil panicy when I saw this thread's name as I thought it was going to be bad news. I admit I'm kind of jumpy, my grand aunt was taken to the hospital today with a possible stroke.
