Last weekend while I was up at the festival, I managed to grab some pre-production pics from where they are made. Normally the tankards aren't posted until the final production is done and we have them in hand.
Don't tell Nancy I am doing this, especially with that new avatar she has. Shows her true inner self!
I will post them in a little while, so hang on for just a little longer.

Looks like it's carrying a lot of the features introduced last year; dark color, silver high-lighted bas relief images, curved handle, more dramatic dragon. Kool

No, what am I missing?
The shape of the handle looks very similar to the 1988 Dragon Tooth tankard. Specifically, the bone looking structure where the top of the handle connects with the tankard.

"topic" the root word is Greek, meaning "to pic" as in to take a pic, or 'picture' as it used to be called. Typically used in faire settings, such as around the bonfire when the wenches are dancing half dressed; "I need to pic this."

Unfortunately, Dakota will not be available for the festival season and will not be able to be here to sign the tankards this year as well. We are unable to assign the numbers on the tankards because of the different locations on site and just the amount that we sell. They also do not label the boxes, so we would have to go through and open all of them ahead of time to put them in order. I understand wanting to match it with pewter collections and we have even discussed trying to do that, but we realized we just did not have the time to do it.

Dakota will be missed ... she was great with the tales of the legends immortalized on her tankard designs. So ... who will be taking care of sales in the tankard section of The Dragonslayer? Will Robin be returning or will she be at Honey Lodge again?

Dicksie will be running the wonderful tankard area this year at festival, and yes Robin will still be over in the Honey/Indulgences area. I will see if I can find the file for the Collectors Guide for this year, I am not sure that anything has changed. We have been behind on some things due to some problems that came up that put us a little behind on things.

I agree, it's always a pleasure to hear Dakota tell the story of the current year's tankard and have her sign it as well. Unfortunately, Paul posted a while back that she had returned to New York to take care of some personal business.
Here's a quote:
To all "Dakota" returned to New York to take care of some personal business. To complete our art needs, Brad Whinnery has agreed to help us. Brad has been honored by "BRIAN FROUD" as his artist of the month. Brad and his wife Heather show in TRF shop 322.
She will definitely be missed. Lets hope that everything works out well for her and she comes back to grace us with her presence next year.
BTW, anyone reading this that is in touch with Dakota, please tell her that we miss her and wish her the very best.

Most definitely. I was so excited to see the tankards that I forgot to check out the t-shirts when I was at Dragonslayer. As I was walking by the mini Dragonslayer near the tournament arena, I remembered the shirts and had a look. Wow, those ARE some fine-looking designs! I'm going to have trouble choosing.

You certainly won't regret it. My lidded tankard is beautiful. I thought I was going to go un-lidded this year, but Dicksie did a little puppet show with one of the lidded tankards and talked me into it.:D

Well I went back into The Dragonslayer Sunday morning and guess what? I saw Dicksie put on a "stereo" puppet show! :)
Even better than that, after about 8 hours at faire, I walked into The Dragonslayer near the end of the day ... Dicksie could tell I was tired and sore ... and she gave me a shoulder/back massage! Oh man, that really helped ease the soreness for the long drive home. For those of you who haven't heard, she is trained in massage therapy. Thanks, Dicksie!

Well ... I actually walked in and was waiting to talk with Dicksie when a fellow ahead of me said he was thinking of getting an unlidded tankard. I'm sure you know what happened next. :) She decided that the show would have more impact if she was using both hands. Sure, it's a pretty short performance, but very cute! Hey Dicksie ... work up a few more jokes and expand the performance a little and you will be the talk of New Market Village!
As for the massage ... I was using my new camera and telephoto lens, so it is like carrying a sack of flour around your neck the whole day. Dicksie noticed I looked fatigued and took mercy on me. If there aren't customers at the tankard counter when you walk in, she will probably rub you the right way (if you look pitiful enough like me)! :o
