Hello . . quick question: Why does access to the TRF Cam require registration? I understand the need for registration for posting on the forums, but it does not seem that security/moderation should be needed to view fest cameras. Thanks.

Sir Martin,
We have always used the cameras to monitor the festival for MIL. The intent of the cameras being online originally was to draw people to our online shopping system, which we no longer have, and to give something to our customers so they could enjoy the festival while they are away. Since the online shopping system has been gone for many years, we have thought about how to track the use of the cameras and look at the benefits to keeping them and a way to reward you, our customer. Registration is a means for us to help track that and to establish a method for us to provide special things for specific customer of our different shops.

Everything in this world comes with a price. We have provided access to the cameras for people around the world for many years now, for free, and hope to continue to do that. By providing your name, email address, and country each of you will help Make It Happen!

Thank you,
Chris

PS: PTZ control may be one of those things the only people that have shopped at Indulgences or Rose-N-Thistle, as an example.

I have to plead ignorance here. :) What is PTZ control?

PTZ stands for PAN, TILT, ZOOM. We have one camera (not currently on the website) that has this feature and we are hoping to add another this year.

Above Indulgencies, the camera can be used to look at the the area from Dragonslayer, over to the patio of the Pavillion, down to Indulgences and the Cottage, and back over to Dragonslayer. We sometimes put this camera online for anyone to control.

This sounds intriguing, Chris. Please let us know before TRF starts how we can qualify for the PTZ camera (ie. show our Indulgences / Rose N Thistle receipt and sign up, etc.).

The PTZ feature is great!
