INFORMATION THIS SITE GATHERS AND TRACKS MIL gathers several types of information. Required information, optional information, and tracking information. Required information : In order to access certain areas of our sites, the following information is required.
Your email address and IP address(es) will not be generally available to most members of the forums or guests, but will be available to moderators and administrators. All members will be able to send, via the forums, an email addressed to the one that you provided. All other information will be publicly available. Your date of birth is only used to verify your age and is not used beyond that unless you voluntarily provided that information again in your user profile. Optional information: Any other field that you fill in and provide, such as address, phone number, message posts, polls, etc. that you fill is voluntarily is considered optional information. Optional information may be displayed to users of the site. The following optional fields are classified as hidden and will not be viewed or accessed by the regular membership. Administrators and moderators will have access to this information.
All other optional information will be publicly available. Tracking information: Information about where you have been within the forums, how many times, and from what location and IP address you visited from will be tracked. In general terms, this information is used for statically information only and is not used to link information back to the individual user. Only statistical information will be available for everyone to see, such as post counts. MIL will sometimes track and catalog the search terms that users enter in our Search function. We use tracking information to determine which areas of our sites users like and don't like based on traffic to those areas. We do not track what individual users read, but rather how well each page performs overall. This helps us continue to build a better service for you. Individual linked information, such as what IP address was used to post a message, will be available to moderators and administrators of the forum. We will not provide tracking information outside of MIL unless subpoenaed by a law enforcement agency. Surveys MIL may occasionally conduct user surveys to better target our content to our audience. We sometimes share the aggregated demographic information in these surveys with our suppliers, sponsors, advertisers, partners, and contractors. The surveys may be online or physically mailed to you. Children Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), we will never knowingly request personally identifiable information from anyone under the age of 13 without requesting parental consent. Cookies MIL sites use cookies. You can refuse cookies by turning them off in your browser. However, you do need cookies to participate actively in message boards, forums, polls and surveys, and view special areas of the site, such as TRFCAM and the Collector’s site. USE OF INFORMATION MIL uses any information voluntarily given by our users to enhance their experience in our network of sites, whether to provide interactive or personalized elements on the sites or to better prepare future content based on the interests of our users. As stated above, we use information that users voluntarily provide in order to enable users to participate in polls, surveys, message boards, and forums. We send out newsletters to subscribers on a regular schedule (depending on the newsletter), and occasionally send out special editions when we think subscribers might be particularly interested in something we are doing. MIL never shares mailing or calling information with any third parties, including advertisers, sponsors or partners, unless the third party is acting on MIL’s behalf, such as the US Postal Service for the purposes of mailing newsletters and correspondence or contractors that fulfill products for MIL. |
